The whole issue of how duty medical doctors handle patients with acute problems outside normal working hours has arisen after the Minister for Culture was in acute danger of a heart malfunction – but the doctor in charge told him on the phone to take an aspirin and go to the doctor next day. It trafnspires that doctors get more money if they diagnose over the phone rather than going out to paitents.

There is new controversy surrounding the Scandinavian Star ferry disaster in 1990 which cost the lives of 159 people. It trabspires that the man the police labelled the arsonist, was asleep – and died - in his cabin when the fires were lit. The Norwegian police is also under suspicion – the main witness in the case says that she never claimed to have seen the man immediately before the fire. The man’s name was put into her report after she had signed it, she claims – and after having seen a picture of him, says she never saw him.

According to Variety Magazine, Danish cinema tickets are the most expensive in the world. According to the magazine an averga ticket costs 73 kroner. Last year over 12 million cinema tickets were sold in Denmark – a 5% drop on the year before.

Denmark – ferries  (Current News)

Two ferries collided in Elsinore harbour this morning causing quite a bit of damage to the ferries but no-one was seriously hurt. According to the reports an HH ferry collided with one of the small Sundbus ferries for reasons that remain unclear. A maritime inquiry is to take place to find out why the accident happened. Both ferries were able to dock under their own steam.

According to the reports this morning,, material confiscated during last week’s police terrorism sting in Denmark was home-made explosives which have been used in suicide bombings. The report is in the BT newspaper and says that a man happened to pick up a confidential report that was lying on the ground outside the laboratory that tested the material. However likely THAT story is – the claim is that explosives were found.

The tax authorities in Denmark are in the process of following the money trail of foreign credit cards to see whether or not they can rake in some more cash from those Danes who have accounts abroad and draw their money in Danish banks. According to the tax authorities they reckon they’ll be able to pull in about a billion kroner.

Two of the nine people detained yesterday on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack have been remanded in custody while five others have had their arrest prolonged by three days. Tow of the nine have been released. There is very little in the form of information about the case – the habeas corpus hearings were held behind doors and went on for some 12 hours. The police intelligence service detained the nine in a 2 a.m. sting on Monday morning. The police felt that some of the group had been able to get hold of material which could be used to produce explosives.

An internet chat consultant, who has been widely used as a commentator on how to prevent young people being abused through their use of internet chatrooms – is expected to be charged today with having abused his position to take photographs of under-age girls and distribute them.
